A freight brokerage company in Clayton is in need of a Sales Account Executive join their growing team! This is a direct hire opportunity, and salary is commensurate with experience - candidates who have relevant industry experience can expect to make between $50, 000 - $90, 000 annually, and there is a commission structure in place that allows for the potential for additional compensation. Candidates will be fairly compensated for the amount of business they bring in, and salary adjustments will take place as their accounts grow.    The ideal candidate in this role will have experience buying and selling materials such as: plastics, wood, paper, scrap metal, or other recyclable/reusable materials     JOB DUTIES:
  • Broker materials directly from suppliers to consumers at a profitable margin
  • Perform market research regarding new potential customer leads, and new potential product/material leads
  • Interpret market information to identify strengths and weaknesses in the market(s)
  • Work with other account managers/account executives on various company projects
  • Travel to and meet with current and potential suppliers and customers to determine needs and review inventory/quality of inventory
  • Build and maintain relationships with prospective and current suppliers and customers
  • Verify credit standings and lines of credit for new and existing customers
  • Confirm and manage transportation/shipping requirements for suppliers and customers, notifying the customer service team of any requirements or changes
  • Work with suppliers and customers regarding any problems or quality issues and provide resolutions in a timely manner
  • Communicate with the customer service team regarding orders and order status
  • Attend industry conferences


This opportunity will require extensive travel - the candidate in this role should expect to travel a minimum of 75 days (approx 2.5 months) per year. Candidates will be required to fly and/or drive to customer/supplier sites, depending on the location. 
  • At least 3 years previous experience in an account executive/outside sales role required
  • At least one year of previous sales experience in the plastics, wood, paper, scrap metal, or similar material industry a must
  • Customer service focus with the ability to build and maintain relationships with contacts required
  • Proficiency in MS Word, Excel and Outlook
  • The ability to travel via plane and extensively via car, along with a valid driver's license, and an acceptable motor vehicle record required
  • Ability to travel a minimum of 75 days per year required
