Lenexa client seeking Junior Purchasing Clerk for their growing company. The Purchasing Clerk will be responsible for planning and purchasing component parts to create and maintain optimum inventory levels and to assure the highest quality product and service for the Company's material investment dollar.
-Receive purchase requisitions and stock status for order requirements, determine the supplier, negotiate price, terms and date of delivery.
-Keep inventory at optimum levels through application of inventory planning techniques consistent with inventory policy, and constantly review obsolete and slow-moving materials for disposition.
-Support Manufacturing with parts added through the revision process
-Communicate the availability of materials to Manufacturing and Parts Sales in a timely manner.
-Coordinate efforts with Engineering and Sales departments as well as outside suppliers to optimize availability.
-Determine when the parts are needed, quantity and the best supplier
-Using MRP (Workbench in Avante) to view parts requirements needed for purchasing
-Follow up on all purchase orders
-Ability to plan and be proactive
-Other duties and special projects assigned by the Purchasing Manager
1+ years of buying or inventory control experience. Knowledge of product components, including quality, price and availability. Experience with negotiating price with vendors. Strong ability to multi-task and handle interruptions. Strong computer skills. Bachelor's degree preferred. Experience with Manufacturing Resource Programs (MRP) is preferred. Ability to read blueprints is preferred.
